FOOD & TREATS RESTOCKED

We've just restocked on our favorite food and treats! Wingaling, Smothered Comfort, and Turducken flavors of Merrick canned foods (made in the USA!) are back, as well as Doggie Wishbones (an almost smell-less alternative to bully sticks), Flossies (with omega 3 fatty acids), and small Bully Sticks. Also not pictured - we've received more California Natural Lamb Small Bites dry food.

My super picky chihuahua is a big fan of the doggie wishbones, and Wingaling canned food. Our staff highly recommends these products - we don't stock anything we don't stand behind 100%!

We're expecting lots more goodies this week as well. Super excited. Stay tuned for more updates!

NEW ARRIVAL - ROPE TOYS

Brand new rope toys have just arrived at the store. We're so excited! Each toy is tested in the USA, made from AZO-free, vegetable dyed rope, and best of all 10% of the proceeds are donated to rescue and animal welfare groups.

We've always carried the animal shaped ones but this year they've added some new designs. We love these heart and peace sign versions!

There's also a ring shaped toy with little bones. They come in a variety of colors and they're super cute. All toys are also graded by light, moderate, serious, and aggressive tuggers/chewers, to help you determine which is the best one for your dog. Rope toys are great for your dog's teeth too!

NEW ARRIVAL - BEDS

We just got a bunch of brand new beds in the shop. Some are restocks, and some are brand new styles. I'm super excited to show these to you guys! The beds above in the colorful textiles are new styles - There's round, square, and rectangle.

Here are some close ups of the square and rectangle beds. No matter the shape, customers can browse a selection of fabric swatches and special order the fabric they want, or you can simply buy one of the beds we have ready in stock at the shop. These are Mari's favorite textile choices, so pretty! They're 100% washable, and some fabric choices include super tough yet soft outdoor fabrics. Available in sizes small, medium, and large.

We've also restocked on a popular bed called the Napper bed. The shape of this bed follows the contour of a dog's favorite sleep position. These beds are available in velvety-soft colors such as the ones above. There's also additional colors available for special order. Available in sizes small, medium, medium/large, and large.
And last but not least we've restocked on our lounge beds in organic cotton fabrics. They come in small, medium, medium/large, and large.

All of the beds shown in this blog post are 100% machine washable and dryable. Each bed has a zipper to remove the cover so you can wash just the cover if that's all you need to do, or throw the whole thing in the wash! They're filled with hypoallergenic sustainafill, and they're also 100% eco friendly! Our customers love these beds because there's a wide variety of fabric choices to match their home decor, and dogs love them because they're so soft and comfy.

ADOPTABLE PET - CUBBY BEAR

Many of our customers (and both my chihuahuas) are from rescues and shelters. But sometimes we get customers who are being fostered and looking for their forever homes! From now on we will feature foster pets from Mary's Little Lamb Animal Rescue on our blog. They specialize in small dogs but currently have a German Shepherd puppy too.

Our first featured adoptable pet is Cubby Bear! With a name like that, who couldn't love him? He's a furry pomeranian/yorkie mix. He's 2 years old, about 10 lbs., and loves everyone! Dogs, kids, and even cats :) He's neutered, microchipped, and up to date with all his shots.

JUST RESTOCKED - TRUNDLE BEDS

We've just restocked our super popular trundle three-way beds in the shop. If you're not familiar with these beds, click here to see a little tutorial we did on these beds.

They're great for little dogs who love to burrow, and they're also great for cats who love to have some privacy (and what cat doesn't?) They also come in a wide variety of colors. My favorite is the pink. If we don't have the color you want in the store, ask one of our sales staff to show you all the available swatches.

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* TOBY - LONGHAIR TABBY CAT *~

Meet Toby, the tabby cat! Toby gets a unique haircut at Marina Dog (and cat) Grooming. His mom invented it and she calls it the "Mohawk Lion Cut." it's basically your standard lion cut, but with a mohawk going down all along the back.

Here's a more detailed shot. We don't often take pictures of our kitty customers for safety reasons - sometimes the cats don't feel comfortable being out in the open at the store. But Toby is one of those super sweet, gentle, and calm kitties that we're able to photograph. When I mentioned to his mom what a good cat he is, she told me it's because he's a certified therapy cat! Everything made sense all of a sudden. I'm sure Toby has and will bring a lot of joy to people who need it, and his unique haircut is also probably a great conversation starter. We're glad Toby has such a giving mission in his life and we hope he and his sweet mom come back soon!

ANESTHESIA-FREE TEETH CLEANING REMINDER FOR SEPTEMBER

Getting a pet's teeth cleaned at the vet can be stressful for both pet and owner because pets need to be put under general anesthesia for the vet to clean their teeth. Not to mentions it's expensive. But not to worry! Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming offers anesthesia-free teeth cleaning once a month! This service is performed by our dental hygienist, Laurie, who does an excellent job. Your pet simply sits on her lap and she talks and praises to reassure them. Most pets love the attention and enjoy seeing her! Your pets will thank you for it. Their teeth look so much better after the cleaning. Mari's poodles, Mocha and Java, love to get their teeth cleaned every month. Here they are pictured with Laurie after having their teeth cleaned :) Teeth cleaning is available for both dogs and cats.

Remember that getting your pet's teeth cleaned is necessary to prevent your beloved friend from getting any infected teeth or gum disease. Can you imagine what your mouth would feel like if you didn't brush every day? We can't stress enough the importance of dental hygiene for your pet. TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* CHLOE - SHIHTZU *~

Meet Chloe the shihtzu! Chloe just moved here from the east coast and she came to get her first grooming with us. She's very sweet and friendly! I got lots of kisses from her.

After her grooming she pranced around happily as if she was showing off her new haircut. We hope to see Chloe and her mom back again soon!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* BRADY - LABRADOR RETRIEVER *~

Today's customer is Brady the labrador retriever! Brady was out and about with her dog walker friend when they spotted our shop. Once Brady came in, it was tough to get her to leave again! Brady liked our shop so much that when they walked past the store again Brady pulled her friend back in and laid down on the floor so that she wouldn't have to leave! Brady is hilarious, curious, and smart. Once it was time for them to leave again Brady laid down outside in front of our door, totally refusing to go. It's nice to have such a big fan :) We hope to see Brady and her friend again soon!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* DICKIE - FRENCH BULLDOG *~

This is Dickie the French Bulldog. Dickie just got picked up by his mom after grooming and he was ready to head out for a nice walk! He's nice and fresh now, and ready to pick up some new doggy girlfriends on his way home. Dickie is a very good boy, very curious and well behaved.

He really loves it when his mom scratches his head for him. What a good mom :)

We hope to see Dickie and his mom again soon!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* HARU - TOY POODLE *~

Meet Haru the toy poodle! Haru just arrived from Japan and had his first grooming with us. He was a very good boy. In Japan there's a lot of creative hairstyles for dogs, especially poodles. Of course, our groomers are Japanese, and we love to take customer's requests, so Haru got a Japanese poodle style. The only way I can describe it is bellbottom legs! Slim on the top and big and fluffy on the bottom. It looks really cute when they walk - I saw somebody staring at Haru when Haru and his mom left the shop. Definitely a showstopper.

HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND/SHOP CLOSED MONDAY

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! The Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming staff will be taking a little break too - so we'll be closed Monday, September 5th, Labor Day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we hope you're having a wonderful weekend relaxing. Lolly decided to take some time off too and went out to her local Starbucks wearing her Venicepets t-shirt, but quickly found the weather was too warm. A resourceful dog, she wore her t-shirt as a hat to keep the sun away from her face. It totally worked.

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ~* PAOLA & PRINI - TOY POODLE & WHEATON TERRIER *~

Today's customers are Paola the toy poodle and Prini the wheaton terrier! They came this week for grooming. They came out looking super fluffy and smelling sooo nice. Both of them look just like stuffed toys! too cute. We hope to see Paola, Prini, and their mom again soon.
