Does this look kind of familiar? That's because Gummi shares an uncanny resemblance to our very own Venicepets Java!

Gummi is super cute and friendly. She came in wearing an adorable doggy yukata with strawberries printed all over it. For those of you that don't know, a yukata is a light kimono worn in the summertime. Girls wear it to go to a matsuri, which is a summer festival that takes place right around this time. I wonder if Gummi was on her way to a matsuri? We hope she comes back again soon, so she and Java can meet face to face. I wonder if they'll notice?

Meet Maddie, Jack, and Coco, the pomeranians! Jack is of course the biggest one. They came for grooming and also each one of them got a brand new harness and lead! We love these soft harnesses and it looks like the do too. They're all very well behaved and sweet. We can't wait for them to come back and visit us again!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★SHANPU - CHIHUAHUA MIX★

Hello everyone! I've introduced my other dog, Lolly, on the blog before, but I also have another dog! This is my chihuahua mix, Shanpu. I'm not sure what she's mixed with - it could be any number of different dogs. She's 9 lbs. (a little heavy for her frame, we're working on it!) and 3 years old. I adopted her from a rescue in Corona when she was 8 weeks old. Actually when I got her I wasn't even looking for a dog. I had randomly searcher 'chihuahua puppy' on Google images one day to find something to draw when I saw her picture on the first results page. I clicked it and to my surprise she was located in SoCal, looking for a home, and up for adoption that very next weekend. I saw her tiny face and knew it was destiny, she was going to be my dog. Something about her just told me I had to take care of her. We drove up to Corona that Saturday and took her home. No regrets! She's a wonderful and smart girl, loves everyone. The next year we adopted Lolly and now they're best friends.

Does anyone have any good guesses as to what kind of dog she is? I really have no idea...Chihuahua(maybe) and something else. I'd love to hear your ideas!

Popi has his very own Facebook page, and with photos like this, I'm convinced he's the next Boo (the superstar Pomeranian on Facebook, we're all big fans at the shop). Popi has also been on the blog with his sister Cece a few times. I think Popi wanted to show the world that swings aren't just for humans. TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★WILLOW - KLEE KAI PUPPY★

Do you love Huskies, but don't have the space, or just wish you could have a little version of one? You can! The Alaskan Klee Kai is the answer. "Klee Kai" means "small dog." Willow here is a Klee Kai puppy. She'll be about 15 lbs. full grown. Isn't she so cute? This is one of the best parts about working at Venicepets, we get to see so many different breeds, mixes of dogs and cats. We learn something new every week. Meet Bella the lhasa apso/poodle mix! Bella made an impression right away - she has a very girly walk, and loves squeaky toys. She's 1 1/2 years old, so she's also very energetic. She got a hamburger squeaky toy which she carried out of the shop herself - she just couldn't wait to get her paws on it!

We've restocked all sizes of one of our best-selling carriers, the black/brown nylon pet carrier! We've also received the same carrier in an organic denim/red version! They're perfect for travel or every day use. There's plenty of ventilation, your pet can enter/exit from either the front or side, and there are 2 extra pockets for storing things like a leash, poop bags, treats, etc. There's a quilted pad on the inside that is machine washable, and the shoulder strap is adjustable and removable! ANESTHESIA-FREE TEETH CLEANING REMINDER FOR JULY

Getting a pet’s teeth cleaned at the vet can be stressful for both pet and owner because pets need to be put under general anesthesia in order for the vet to clean their teeth, and is much more expensive. But not to worry! You can always get anesthesia-free teeth cleaning right here at Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming! Laurie, our dental hygienist, comes in once a month and performs this service. The pet simply sits in her lap, she talks and praises to reassure them. Most pets love the attention and enjoy seeing her! Your pets will thank you for it. They look and smell so much better after cleaning. Mari's poodles, Mocha and Java, love to get their teeth cleaned. Here they are right after the cleaning, all smiles! A coat in the summer?!?! Caleigh likes to think ahead of time (September isn't that far away) and so she got this cute reversible red/black vest today. Good call because it was the last one in the shop! Aside from being sweet, friendly, and super cute, she's also a very good model and gave us some really good poses. It was really hard to pick the best one so here's Caleigh's version of "Blue Steel" from Zoolander. Or was it "Le Tigre?"

Happy 4th of July everyone! We'll be closed Monday, July 4th to celebrate and we will resume business as usual Tuesday, July 5th.
