Popi is one of our very good customers here at Venicepets. He's been featured on our blog at least 2 times before, so I'm sure you've seen him already. TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★LYLE-ENGLISH BULLDOG★

Meet Lyle the english bulldog! Lyle is only 5 years old, but he's already quite a busy dog. He's a spokesdog for Natural Balance Pet Food, he skateboards, and he's a model for Heal by HRY. He gets especially busy during the holidays - this year he'll be in the Rose Parade snowboarding and just being generally cute! He was in last year's Rose Parade too. He even has his own website, GoLyle.com.

Lyle stopped by Venicepets the other day to get this awesome knitted sweater he's wearing in the pictures. Of course, as a model he gave us his best model pose. Go to Lyle's website to see videos of him snowboarding and skateboarding, and don't forget he'll be in this year's Rose Parade on channel 5 Saturday, January 1st, 2011. Lyle will be on the World's Heaviest Float, which is of course supposed to set the Guinness World Record for world's heaviest float! You can catch Lyle and the rest of his skateboarding bulldog pals on the float on December 26th, channel 5, at 4:30pm.

Hello again! Like the picture? I took my chihuahua Lolly (black one on the right) to see her biological sister at an annual holiday party her foster mom hosts every year. Santa Paws is so big compared to them!

Anyway, Christmas is less than a week away and New Year's isn't too far behind, so we thought we'd give you a head's up on our hours of operation.

NEW ARRIVAL! ★KNITTED SWEATERS★

The weather is getting really windy in L.A so it's time to gear up and get some warm new sweaters for your dog! We just received a bunch of great new styles of knitted sweaters in the shop. Some of them even have glittering yarn, so cute!

There's a black punk/jolly roger dog design, there's a cream/black fisherman sweater...

There's also a cute red/black checkered sweater, an a glittering lips sweater...

There's also a hot pink/glittering leopard print sweater, a glittering zebra print sweater, and more of the chunky green cable-knit sweaters we had last year! We've also restocked on the peace stripe sweaters in the back!

All of the sweaters also have a hole in the back for attaching a leash to your dog's collar or harness, and they come in sizes 8 - 20! For those of you that don't know, the number means the length of the sweater from the base of the neck to the base of the tail, in inches. I just wanted to introduce one of my chihuahuas (I have 2 of them) to everyone who reads the Venicepets blog! Sometimes I bring Lolly to work with me so that she can get groomed and yesterday was one of those days. Lolly is a tiny chihuahua (barely 4 lbs.) so little dogs like her need to be treated very gently, and they always treat her with care and she comes out happy and clean! Lolly is wearing a sweater we sold out of a while back and her t-shirt underneath is a Venicepets t-shirt. Anyway Lolly wanted me to tell you guys she said it's nice to meet you!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★HERSCHEL-SHEPHERD/LAB MIX★

Meet Herschel, the shepherd/lab mix. Herschel is a very good boy, and a very smart dog as well! As soon as he was done being groomed, Herschel fetched his leash and collar so that when his dad came he would be all set and ready to go home! Mind you he grabbed his own collar and leash from an area where there were several other leashes, which means he knew exactly which one was his! Such a smart boy! We hope to see Herschel and his wonderful dad back again soon.

ANESTHESIA-FREE TEETH CLEANING REMINDER FOR NOVEMBER

Getting a pet’s teeth cleaned at the vet can be stressful for both pet and owner because pets need to be put under general anesthesia in order for the vet to clean their teeth, and is much more expensive. But not to worry! You can always get anesthesia-free teeth cleaning right here at Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming! Lolly, our dental hygienist, comes in once a month and performs this service. The pet simply sits in her lap, she talks and praises to reassure them. Most pets love the attention and enjoy seeing her! Your pets will thank you for it. They look and smell so much better after cleaning. Mari's poodles, Mocha and Java, love to get their teeth cleaned. Here they are right after the cleaning, all smiles! Teeth cleaning is available for both dogs and cats.

Just to let everybody know, our next date for anesthesia-free teeth cleaning is Monday, November 29th. Appointment slots are filling up fast so please contact us ASAP to book an appointment!
