We've decided to change our shop hours back to the way it's always been and close Sundays. That means that we will once again be open on Mondays. The shop hours are as follows:


Monday: 12:00pm - 6:00pm
Tuesday - Saturday: 12:00pm - 7:00pm
Sunday: CLOSED.

Please keep in mind that this does not affect our grooming hours. Grooming hours stay the same (Tues. - Sat. by appointment!)

Meet Gypsy! Gypsy is a true rescue dog - she was found abandoned on the street in Venice in the middle of the night. One of our good customers took her in and meant to find her a good home, but she fell in love with Gypsy and decided to keep her instead. I can understand why, because as soon as I kneeled down Gypsy came over to me and treated me like her good friend. What a sweetheart! Gypsy got her first hoodie and she looks great! We hope to see her again soon.

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★BELVEDERE-BOSTON TERRIER/SHIHTZU MIX★

Meet Belvedere! The temptation to call him Mr. Belvedere is overwhelming, but not as overwhelming as his cuteness! Belvedere stopped by to get himself a brand new leather collar. He may look like a pup but actually Belvedere is a full grown 1 year old!

When I asked his parents what type of dog he was, they told me he was a BoShi, which is short for a Boston Terrier/Shihtzu mix. I think that's a great way to describe him.

We hope Belvedere stops by again soon!

ANESTHESIA-FREE TEETH CLEANING REMINDER FOR MARCH

Getting a pet’s teeth cleaned at the vet can be stressful for both pet and owner because pets need to be put under general anesthesia in order for the vet to clean their teeth, and is much more expensive. But not to worry! You can always get anesthesia-free teeth cleaning right here at Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming! Laurie, our dental hygienist, comes in once a month and performs this service. The pet simply sits in her lap, she talks and praises to reassure them. Most pets love the attention and enjoy seeing her! Your pets will thank you for it. They look and smell so much better after cleaning. Mari's poodles, Mocha and Java, love to get their teeth cleaned. Here they are right after the cleaning, all smiles! Teeth cleaning is available for both dogs and cats.

Just to let everybody know, our next date for anesthesia-free teeth cleaning is Monday, March 28th. Appointment slots are filling up fast so please contact us ASAP to book an appointment! NORTHEAST JAPAN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER

On March 11th, 2011 an earthquake hit the northeastern region of Japan, which triggered a terrible tsunami that has devistated thousands of people (and their pets).


We are very sad and sorry about all the people in Japan who have either passed away, are gravely injured, or are currently without even the most basic things like food, water, and shelter. The earthquake happened last week but the crisis is long from over. Every single hour there are new developments in Japan. Some of the news gives us hope, some is tragic. As human beings it is our duty to do whatever we can to help others in times of crisis.

Venicepets would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our beloved customers, who have called to ask about the wellbeing of our staff. As many of you already know, everyone at Venicepets/Marina Dog Grooming has family in Japan and we're very lucky that all of our relatives in Japan are doing fine. Thank you so much for being such warmhearted and compassionate people, we are so grateful to have the best customers in the world!

In an effort to help ease the pain of the earthquake/tsunami victims of Japan, Venicepets is reducing the price of our original tees from $28.00 down to $12.00, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Japanese Red Cross. Meet Smudge! Upon first glance you might think she's a very tiny pitbull but in fact Smudge is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier! They're pretty rare so Smudge is the first staffordshire bull terrier I've ever met. She's a super sweet girl and a pleasure to get to know, and with a name like Smudge, we fell in love with her immediately. We hope to see her again soon!

Meet Lilabear the labradoodle! Lilabear is still a puppy so she's super playful, friendly, and curious! All in all a very happy girl. She loves to come in for grooming and we love to have her here with us. We didn't get a photo of it but her mom loves to carry her just like a baby! It's the cutest thing. FAREWELL PERU!

Peru, one of our best customers is leaving L.A this week so today was the last time we got to see her. We will miss Peru and her family so so much! It's been great to have the opportunity to get to know Peru (she's so cute and sweet), we're happy to see her starting a new chapter in her life but so sad to see her go. Good luck Peru and family! Visit us when you're in L.A!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★COCO & ROMA-CHIHUAHUA MIX★

Meet Coco and Roma! Coco(left) and Roma(right) are both chihuahua mixes, and since they're so cute I just had to ask their mom where they came from. Coco and Roma are both rescues, Roma has only been in her new home for a few weeks. She was picked up from the Pasadena Animal Shelter right before she was due to be put to sleep. She went from death row to being in a loving home with a new best friend! Amazing difference isn't it?

We hope to see them again soon!

TODAY'S CUSTOMER ★OLIVER-BICHON MIX★

Meet Oliver the bichon mix! Oliver is super friendly, playful, and helpful too! So helpful that he decided to help out as a salesdog while he was here. The photo above is of him behind the register, you can see Mocha's back in the photo too.

"Hi!"

Oliver isn't big enough to look over the cash register so he invented his own way of greeting customers - through the gap.

"Almost...there!"

Then he tried just jumping up any time someone came in.

Finally Oliver realized that if he just went around the corner he could say hi to people without jumping or shoving his muzzle through the gap between the fixtures. Mocha and Java knew this the whole time but chose not to tell him because watching him trying to figure it out was way more fun.

We hope to see Oliver back again soon! He was a great salesdog!
